Set Up HiveMQ

Note

We will be staying well below the free tier usage limits for HiveMQ and won’t have to provide any billing info. Their target market is companies with tens or hundreds of thousands of things on the internet.

To set up an account:

1. Visit www.hivemq.com (Opens in new tab)
2. Click on Start Free (big yellow button)
3. Set up with your email address or connected account
4. When asked for Company, just put “self” or “hobbyist”
5. Click on Start in HiveMQ Cloud (first option, top left)
6. Click on Create Cloud Cluster (big yellow button)
7. Click on Create Serverless Cluster (under FREE, big white button)
8. A new cluster named Free #1 will show up in the list.
   Click on Manage Cluster (white button, right side)

This will take you to a screen with a lot of info that we will need to copy and paste later on.

You can leave the tab open and come back to it later to fetch it and set up devices.
